Features & Applications

This Fluke TiR4FT infrared flexcam thermal imager is for professionals demanding the best solutions for building diagnostic applications. All Fluke TiR Series models include the innovative IR-Fusion® Technology to assist you to better pinpoint building problems. IR-Fusion captures both a visual (or visible light) image and an infrared image and fuses them together - doesn't just overlay the image. It aligns the two on the imager for a more accurate view at any distance. It can be used to identify heating and cooling loss due to poor construction, missing or inadequate insulation and moisture intrusion. Identifies surface temperature variations of the building envelope, which relates to problems in the structure, thermal bridging, moisture content and air leakage.

This TiR4 FlexCam Thermal Imager with IR Fusion captures real-time visible light images in addition to the infrared image. Thermal sensitivity of <0.05 °C NETD for viewing even the smallest temperature differences. With 5 different viewing modes the end-user will be able to identify and report suspect components with more flexibility. A 180° articulating lens plus one-finger SmartFocus deliver great images when access is poor. Built-in auto-capture, alarm, and analysis functions help you locate intermittent problems. Includes heavy-duty carrying case, two rechargeable battery packs, battery charger, AC adaptor, video cable, 512 MB compact flash card, compact flash card reader and USB cable, PCMCIA compact flash card reader, SmartView reporting and analysis software, neck strap and user manual on CD. SmartView software organizes, analyzes and enhances your infrared images and easily generates customized, professional reports. Images are transferred as IS2 format and can be saved as JPEG, TIFF, GIF, PNG, WMF, EXIF, EMF or BMP, and can be viewed in 10-color palette. Emissivity and background temperature parameter controls.

Roofing Surveys

  • Detect wet insulation in flat-roof systems quickly and efficiently. Find damaged portions of the roofing structure and repair or replace before the entire roof is contaminated.

Energy Audits

  • Perform infrared energy audits for residential and commercial applications. Increase the thermal efficiency of a home or building by scanning for thermal heat loss and cool infiltration or exfiltration , moisture invasion, concrete integrity and heat ventilation problems.

Moisture/Restoration

  • Accurately detect moisture issues located behind exterior and interior walls, in ceilings or under carpet-covered floors.

Mold Remediation

  • Control mold by finding unknown sources of moisture that would otherwise go undetected. Infrared scanning is the fastest most efficient way to provide 100% moisture detection coverage

Features:

  • Industry leading thermal sensitivity provides fine resolution, and ultra high-quality images.
  • IR-Fusion® technology automatically merges visual and thermal images, pinpointing trouble areas quicker by automatically relating thermal images with the real world. IR-Fusion is included with all models.
  • The 180° articulating lens is great for viewing around obstructions.
  • Large, 5” high resolution, high contrast display.
  • A Vanadium Oxide focal plane array (to 320 by 240 pixels) and 20 mm high quality Germanium lens with continuous single finger focus provide exceptional image resolution.
  • SmartView® professional report writing software generates fast, easy customizable reports including rich image analysis with free updates for the life of your product.
  • The intuitive operation with on-camera Windows CE interface makes it easy to use.

What is Thermal Imaging?

Thermal imaging is the non-contact detection and measurement of infrared energy or temperature. All objects on earth, hot or cold, radiate.

How do thermal imagers work?

Much like digital cameras, Fluke thermal imagers capture pictures. Instead of seeing visible light like digital cameras, thermal imagers use a detector to measure infrared energy. These measurements are then used to create a thermal image by assigning colors to correspond with certain temperatures.

Who is using thermal imaging?

Maintenance professionals, facility managers and electrical contractors use thermal imaging to inspect, troubleshoot and maintain electrical, mechanical and process equipment. Detecting abnormal heat patterns on equipment prior to a failure allows these users to lower costs, increase productivity, reduce risk and make money

What are the applications for thermal imaging?

Thermal imaging is the fastest and safest method of early problem detection on electrical, mechanical and process equipment, as well as the building envelope.

How can thermal imaging benefit me?

Lower costs – Save money by finding potential failures, reducing overtime, taking advantage of scheduled outages and extending equipment life.

Increase productivity – Troubleshoot in seconds by letting the varying temperatures of components tell the story. Narrow down and rule out possible problem causes faster by seeing the whole picture with infrared.

Reduce risk – Reduce the likelihood of unplanned downtime and minimize the risk of arc flash. By regularly checking equipment health and maintaining a safe distance from equipment during inspection, substantial risk is mitigated.

Make money – Electrical contractors and professional thermographers provide infrared inspections as part of their service offering. Most insurance companies mandate at least an annual infrared inspection for fire prevention and safety.

Typical Applications:

  • Predictive maintenance – Identify electrical and mechanical problems before they cause failure
  • Power/utilities – Real-time analysis of substations, transmission lines and equipment
  • Process monitoring – Real-time observation to ensure efficient and safe operation
  • Research and development – Quantify heat patterns to improve product designs
  • Electronic design – Close up circuit board analysis
